Mulle's drawing process - part II

Today I will continue the little insight into my drawing process with example pictures from the Easter artwork I did (see below). Yesterday I showed you the first two steps and how I use rubber crepe.

Here you can see how I slowly develop the artwork. Like I told you before, I decide on the colours while I'm colouring, which means that I sometimes sit in front of the artwork for quite a while just looking at it and thinking. I try to imagine how this or that colour may look like. Here I wanted the enframing circle to somehow fit Hanako's dress (the ribbon and the egg) and at the same time to stand in contrast to the other areas which would be in yellow-greenish colours.
However, because I was really unsure how to colour the circle, I did the details in advance. In this close up you can see that the first layer of colouring is always very basic (and that mistakes happen all the time oO). I usually do three or four different shades of an area until I am finally finished.

There is more to come in the next days.

Have a lovely Sunday!

A treat to my blog readers

To give all of you who are so ardently reading my blog a little treat here are some pictures I took during the process of drawing my new Easter artwork.

Maybe this answers some of the questions some of you have been asking lately:

Here you see the first steps. I use simple water proof ink as well as Maru and G-Pen for the outlines. It dries very fast and I can immediately start with the colouring.
I start with the areas for which I already know the colours, which are not many oO. I always decide during the process of colouring which colours I want to use. So you could say I don't really have a concept oO :) Almost all of drawings are done ad lib.

Here you can see a detail of the egg colouring. Because the pattern is very detailed and I usually don't have the patience for such minute things I use rubber crepe (the shiny texture). It's very easy to handle. Simply apply it before you colour, let it dry, now use the colours you want to use, let those dry again (hach, patience - it's such a difficult thing) and rub it off, either with your finger or a rubber. Et voila! You have created a beautiful effect without breaking a finger.

More Details will follow :)

Happy Easter!!!

Dear all,
I am wishing you a happy Easter holiday and some lovely days for you and your family. My parents will be searching for chocolates tomorrow (they don't know it yet, though :3 ). With this little drawing of my new OC Hanako I want to pay tribute to the beautiful Easter egg tradition of the Sorbs. I hope you like it!!!

Original drawings for the winners of my tombola

Some weeks ago I did a tombola on my Facebook page with some leftovers from the Leipzig Book Fair. There were two winners who also won two original drawings, one with water colours and one with pencil. Here you can see the results.

A dear friend sent me a sample of the Colorex skin colour, which is absolutely fabulous! The winner of this one, Rebecca, had no special wishes, so I chose this lovely, little lady.

Unfortunately, the scan of the pencil drawing is really bad oO Minka, the second winner, wanted the cute version of Charlotte from Madoka. The original is much better, but I hope Minka will see this when the package arrives.

There is a lot more to come because I try to draw in every free minute. I hope you are looking forward to it :)

Love,
Mulle

Lovely evening, ladies!

As I told you before, I am completely stuck with Uta no Prince Sama. The series is partly completely idiotic and suffers from a romantic overkill and a female character who cannot walk straight and keeps stammering "various various various ... -kun". But (!) ...... it's also beautifully animated, extremely funny, heart-warming and the male characters are simply gorgeous (crazy, but gorgeous). Ren is not necessarily my favourite, but I like his design and his character allows for a lot of kitch. I love kitch!
Have a lovely evening!

And still more ConHon entries

This weekend the weather in Hamburg is really bad. It's been raining since Friday and will probably continue to rain until Wednesday. So much for Spring oO

And what do you do if you can't go outside? That's right, you draw and watch the new Frozen Bluray (oh, it's so lovely!) I finished another ConHon-entry that took some more time. The ConHon itself is absolutely beautiful and there are such lovely drawings in itand now I am a part of it.

The character is from a series of figures on "The Seven Deadly Sins". If you haven't seen them yet, have a look! They are gorgeous. Unfortunately, also very expensive *hach*

More ConHon entries and ... stuff

Good evening to all of you! I have been quite busy lately to finish some of the ConHon entries that I took home with me from the Leipzig Book Fair. I really like to have more time at home and think I will do that more often after cons. It's so much more relaxing. Here you see some of the results and I am quite satiesfied with them. Still, these are not all and I still have more to finish...

However, tonight I needed a break and so I am continuing with a fanart I recently started to a series I am currently watching. I seldom have time to watch Anime, because I work a lot, but sometimes, early in the morning or late in the evening, I watch one or two episodes (okay, sometimes it's three or four). Do you know to which series this character belongs to?
