My little Pony

Priorities

The last time I watched My Little Pony I was 12 or 13, but during the last months I have rediscovered the series and am officially addicted. First, I was very sceptical about the design, but the hunour and intelligent character design convinced me. During my holidays in France I discovered some more MPL surprise and collector's bags and simply could not resist to buy some. I like these better than the monochrome ones and am afraid I will have to get some more. (You have to set your priorities right.)
Besides that I am thinking about the important question: Who is my favourite Pony? (yes, these kind of questions are important as they make me happy and help me to forget my work for a while :) Anyway, I am torn between Fluttershy and Rarity, although I also like Pinky Pie (how could anyone not love that little grunt'n'laugh?) Who is your favourite Pony? Until I decide about that I will simply draw some MPL fanart. Here is a sketch to my first idea. I think Pinky Pie would be a perfect kindergarden or primary school teacher, that's why I came up with this idea. You can't really see the background as the red pencil marks are too thin, but Pinky and her young students will be at a fair.
I don't know what it is about me and fanarts of characters in their possible future jobs. ((oO))
I guess it's because I am also very concerned with the question of what to do even though I thought I was already done with that. Well, you can be mistaken about things more than once. So if I have to face realities I think I can at least dream about what some of my favourite characters could do if they ever grew up :)

Interview on AnimePro

Good morning everyone,

I almost completely forgot to tell you about the interview I was allowed to do with the extremely cool webpage AnimePro. They have interviewed some very good German and international mangaka and I feel honoured to be ranked among them. Thanks so much again to Jennifer (aka Zaubermaus) for the opportunity. You can read my interview here.

Drawing, drawing, drawing

Yesterday was a really bad day. Do you know these days when you just don't know why all this bulls**t happens to you? Yes, it was one of those days. Drawing always helps me in those times (as does my boyfriend). I think only because I finished my Kobato fanart yesterday and because my boyfriend was sitting next to me watching how I smeared white paint all over his parents' living room table I managed to enjoy the evening. I will let you see the complete painting when I'm back home and have my scanner, until then enjoy this detail.

When I draw I always like to surround myself with beautiful objects or beings (like my cats ^_^). I don't know, but somehow their beauty always helps. I guess that is also reflected in my drawings. I know they usually don't have a deep meaning, but I think they reflect the beauty I see in ordinary things and relationships - for example between Kobato and Iryogi-san. They love each other unconditionally just like I love my cats or like I enjoy the light reflected from the green tea I had yesterday.

Preparation for Conventions

Hello to all of you,

after a week of holidays in France I am back and can draw a bit more and prepare for some conventions that are coming my way in September and October. However, my visit to France also gave me some input. In a really nice comic shop in Montpellier I found two beautiful (and rather cheap) artbooks by the wonderful artist Shiitake - no, not the mushroom :)

I had seen some of her drawings some years ago and immediately recognised them when I found the artbooks. Here you see the cover of one of them. The drawings of her fairies are really inspiring. The texts are in French, but if you had French at school you can understand most of it.

Besides that, I started to work on a Kobato fanart lately. I just love the series. It's short, it's sweet and the characters are lovely. That's how I like my Clamp best. I was also lucky and bought many of their complete series for a relatively low price on ebay. Now my shelves are piled with Clamp ;3 I love that! I think from the very beginning and ever since I read X and Magic Knight Rayearth these four amazing artists have influenced me the most (next to Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon and Ghibli films). So I hope I can do the series justice.

As usual I am working on several drawings. To the left you see a sketch of my character Minu. I want her to feature in many of my paintings as she represents a lot of myself. To the right is a summer drawing I am doing for my mother. The hair has already cost me some nerves and several hours. I don't know whether I will finish the drawing in time as we have our birthday on the same day and it's in July, but I'll do my best!

Rise of the Guardians - in love with babytooth

Hello all of you,

have any of you watched Rise of the Guardians? I watched it in cinema this winter and now I bought the Blu-Ray and I just love Babytooth!!! She is so adorable, well, they all are! The colours and that cute round face with the long, pointy nose ... Hach, how could you not love her? Eh, them. I could watch the movie every day. In general, I am really happy that Disney has some real competition in dreamworks and I hope that will only get us some more beautiful animations. I am currently working on some sketches of the Guardians. Let's see how that will turn out.

Some things never change

Even after almost a year some things do not change - even though I am in a new city and with a new job, my desk still looks like a mess. But at least it is very colourful :)

Signs of Life

Hello everyone!

Wow, can you believe it has almost been a year since last I posted anything here? Well, sometimes you just need some time for other things and that's also the reason for the long time of absence from my blog. However, I am back and will more or less frequently start posting again. I will upload some of the work I did inbetween later this week. Until then please have a look at my deviantart page, where you can find most of my new paintings and drawings.

Thanks for all the people who wrote comments and emails to me. I am sorry I couldn't answer all of you, but I will try to catch up with the flood of emails.

However, I think that a lot of people are shy about writing comments or at least that is what I got from your emails. Please don't be! I am happy about every comment and will try to answer all of them.

Mulle
