Impressions from the ChisaiiCon

Hi guys,
the ChisaiiCon is over and it was great! I met so many nice people and did so many ConHon entries (my hand usually hurts after a Con). I unfortunately fell sick after the Con, but I still want to show you some impressions.

My booth at the Con. There wasn't much space, but we managed all right :) And most of the stuff was sold.
I, of course, had to buy something for myself and because I am big K-On fan I had to get this adorable Yui figure. I think she is so cute!
A ConHon entry I did for a lovely girl. It's her OC.
I personally really like this ConHon entry I did. Lisa visited me several time sand also took part in my workshop.
I also do fanarts as ConHon entries. Here's a Rin for a big Free-fan! She freaked out (positively) when she saw a Free fanart in my folder :)

Preparing the next Con

The ChisaiiCon is taking place this weekend and I am in the middle of prepartions. There will be a new lottery with winners only and I also prepared some surprise packages. Next to the usual stuff like postcards, printsm buttons and such I will also sell some handmade postcards and handpainted notebooks (in different sizes). I am really looking forward to it because I have never been to that Con oO Is anyone of you guys going? I am especially looking forward to doing some ConHon entries, which has turned out to be my favourite work at Cons :) And I am quite nervous about the workshop I'll be doing on perspective, anatomy, and composition in Shoujo Art.

As time goes by ... so many things happen

My dear ones,

so many things have been happening during the last weeks. First, I moved to another apartment oO So exhausting, but it's almost done. Second, my Dawanda Shop is really going well. So many things, especially originals, have sold so quickly, I was really surprised oO. I hope I will have enough stuff left for the conventions this year. Speaking of conventions: the next one is just around the corner: the Chisaii Con in Hamburg. You can not only visit me at my booth, but I will also give a workshop on Shoujo drawings :) The number of participants is limited, so hurry up.
Besides all of that I didn't have the time to do much drawing, but as I am in sickbed at the moment I will maybe find the time to draw a bit more. Here is a notebook I did as a thank you gift to one of my regular customers at Dawanda. She is a great fan and I appreciate that a lot. See you all soon!
Mulle

I chose this picture as a silent protest against the extreme heat we had during the last weeks *fanning*. I am more a mild climate person and I love autumn, spring, and winter. Summer, however, is not really my thing if it's too hot.

Chibi...Chibi...Chibi

Good morning y'all,

I am currently very busy because I am moving and I also have a lot of work to do at university oO It's so typical, whenever you do something like that it all comes together.

So I have no time for big artworks. However, I've been doing some chibis lately. I had to do a Chibi Esmeraude from Sailor Moon for a project on Facebook and I liked her so much that I started drawing other Sailor Moon characters as chibis. Here you see the first four I did (well, actually five as Ale an Ann are a pairing, of course).
I love the design of Ale and Ann. Actually, the colour combination is hilarious, but it works just fine with these two, so you can see how the Sailor Moon designers are really great artists.

Fisheye is quite an ambigious character for me. On the one hand, he is extremely unnerving, but on the other hand the design is unique. I mean, look at that bubbly fish costume oO

Helios doesn't appear too often so he is very special for me and he helped a lot that I started liking Chibi Usa a bit better.

Esmeraude was the first one I did for the project. Her German voice is very unnerving, but I love her green hair.

There will be surely more Sailor Moon characters as chibis so I hope you are looking forward to that.

Love,
Mulle

Cecil for the Lovers

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten to show you the the finished Cecil fanart. I am really happy about it and hope it can also make your day a little brighter :) Enjoy!

By the way, I have finally received new products for my Dawanda shop. You can find them there this Friday. I am so happy about that, too. Oh, there are so many things to make a day happy. Now I'll go and hug my boyfriend and think about my lovely kittehs ;3

ConHon entries .... more ConHon entries

I have the feeling that I have never done so many ConHon entries in the years before than I have done during the last two months. Well, that's what happens when you're at a wonderful convention like the LBM.
But the one you see here was done for the first buyer of items from my Dawanda shop. Thr first five people who buy for more than 15 Euro will get a ConHon-entry for free.

This ConHon entry, however, is for the dear Carrie, who wrote to me via my Facebook page. I envy her because she is currently in Japan. Hach...

Rainy days...

A sleepy good morning to you all!

It's been raining during the last days óÒ and somehow this has also effected my mood. I could sleep all day and simply do nothing *Zzzzzz*. Tinkering and drawing is a good therapy against that. So whenever I am feeling a little depressed I shut myself up in my room, have a good movie running to entertain me and simply tinker all day. Concentrating and doing things yourself is a great way to cheer yourself up and so yesterday I continued my Aijima drawing and also made some more postcards. Yes, I am making handmade postcards. I either use them myself, hand them out as giveaways or sell them.

In June, there is a wonderful event where all artists in my home Bundesland will open their doors and give an insight into their work and sell handmade items. It is called Kunst offen and it is really worth an outing with your family. I will take part with my father, hwo is a wood artist. Have  a look!

I really need to decide on the light and shadow of this drawing oO Ah well, there is still time :)

Mulle

Morning progress

Good morning to y'all!

It is still quite early, but because I usually work and study during the day until the late evening I often use one or two hours in the early morning to continue with my paintings and drawings. I'm an early bird ;3 (oh, don't let my cats here that ^^)
So I could do some details for Aijima's face, which looked a bit weird without eyes. If you compare the  pictures from the last post and this one you can see the enormous difference eyes can make, that's why they are so important in manga and anime. However, this is also only an inbetween-step. The very last strokes will be done shortly before I finish the picture.

I think it looks almost 3D, doesn't it?

Well, I also did some more drawing, but I'm gonna keep that for later.

Have a lovely day! Work is calling!

Working

Hello dear ones,

I hope you had a good start into the new week (I don't want to go to work today oO - I wanna stay home and do what I like - *I'm a whining kitteh today* ^^).

Well, sometimes you just have to pull yourself together and cheer yourself up with something you like, like drawing. So I hope I can cheer you up a bit (especially the ladies among you) with some glimpses of my new UtaPri Fanart ;3 (I love UtaPri!!!) You might remember my Ren-Fanart (see one of the maaaany posts below), well, this time I decided for a character that does probably not belong to the most beloved of the idols. However, I thought: "With just the right amount of sexiness Cecil can be just as gorgeous as the others." So that's my task for this one. Here's how I proceed.

Mulle's Dawanda Shop

Dear all,

I finally did it! After so many people have been asking me about setting up a shop I have finally done it. And I have to admit it is much easier for taking care of things :) Please visit me on Dawanda! If you have any questions about the shop you can also contact me here. I also do international shipping within Europe (which I will probably extend to overseas as soon as I have established everything :)

Have a lovely Sunday!

Mulle's drawings process - part 3

Hello everyone,

today I want to finish the insight into my drawing process for the Happy Easter drawing I did recently. In the last two posts you could already see the first steps from the inking to the way I decide on the colours. This time we will have a closer look at the background and the finishing touches.

Here you can see how I did the Background. I really only used two colours. I work wet on wet so that the colours can run smoothly together and combine the way they want to. I like to leave some things to chance. Only when I am really not satisfied with the way the colours intermingle will I interfere and correct here and there. As you can also see there are a lot of areas that need re-doing. I leave those for the very end.

Because when I am done with the complete colouring I start re-working all the areas that need correction or that I am not satisfied with. I also apply white ink and usually re-work the outlines. As you can already see everything looks much more clean. The very last step are the white dots and my signature and the image is done.

I hope you found this a bit interesting and that it may be helpful to you.

Have a lovely 1st of May!!!

Love,
Mulle

Mulle's drawing process - part II

Today I will continue the little insight into my drawing process with example pictures from the Easter artwork I did (see below). Yesterday I showed you the first two steps and how I use rubber crepe.

Here you can see how I slowly develop the artwork. Like I told you before, I decide on the colours while I'm colouring, which means that I sometimes sit in front of the artwork for quite a while just looking at it and thinking. I try to imagine how this or that colour may look like. Here I wanted the enframing circle to somehow fit Hanako's dress (the ribbon and the egg) and at the same time to stand in contrast to the other areas which would be in yellow-greenish colours.
However, because I was really unsure how to colour the circle, I did the details in advance. In this close up you can see that the first layer of colouring is always very basic (and that mistakes happen all the time oO). I usually do three or four different shades of an area until I am finally finished.

There is more to come in the next days.

Have a lovely Sunday!

A treat to my blog readers

To give all of you who are so ardently reading my blog a little treat here are some pictures I took during the process of drawing my new Easter artwork.

Maybe this answers some of the questions some of you have been asking lately:

Here you see the first steps. I use simple water proof ink as well as Maru and G-Pen for the outlines. It dries very fast and I can immediately start with the colouring.
I start with the areas for which I already know the colours, which are not many oO. I always decide during the process of colouring which colours I want to use. So you could say I don't really have a concept oO :) Almost all of drawings are done ad lib.

Here you can see a detail of the egg colouring. Because the pattern is very detailed and I usually don't have the patience for such minute things I use rubber crepe (the shiny texture). It's very easy to handle. Simply apply it before you colour, let it dry, now use the colours you want to use, let those dry again (hach, patience - it's such a difficult thing) and rub it off, either with your finger or a rubber. Et voila! You have created a beautiful effect without breaking a finger.

More Details will follow :)

Happy Easter!!!

Dear all,
I am wishing you a happy Easter holiday and some lovely days for you and your family. My parents will be searching for chocolates tomorrow (they don't know it yet, though :3 ). With this little drawing of my new OC Hanako I want to pay tribute to the beautiful Easter egg tradition of the Sorbs. I hope you like it!!!

Original drawings for the winners of my tombola

Some weeks ago I did a tombola on my Facebook page with some leftovers from the Leipzig Book Fair. There were two winners who also won two original drawings, one with water colours and one with pencil. Here you can see the results.

A dear friend sent me a sample of the Colorex skin colour, which is absolutely fabulous! The winner of this one, Rebecca, had no special wishes, so I chose this lovely, little lady.

Unfortunately, the scan of the pencil drawing is really bad oO Minka, the second winner, wanted the cute version of Charlotte from Madoka. The original is much better, but I hope Minka will see this when the package arrives.

There is a lot more to come because I try to draw in every free minute. I hope you are looking forward to it :)

Love,
Mulle

Lovely evening, ladies!

As I told you before, I am completely stuck with Uta no Prince Sama. The series is partly completely idiotic and suffers from a romantic overkill and a female character who cannot walk straight and keeps stammering "various various various ... -kun". But (!) ...... it's also beautifully animated, extremely funny, heart-warming and the male characters are simply gorgeous (crazy, but gorgeous). Ren is not necessarily my favourite, but I like his design and his character allows for a lot of kitch. I love kitch!
Have a lovely evening!

And still more ConHon entries

This weekend the weather in Hamburg is really bad. It's been raining since Friday and will probably continue to rain until Wednesday. So much for Spring oO

And what do you do if you can't go outside? That's right, you draw and watch the new Frozen Bluray (oh, it's so lovely!) I finished another ConHon-entry that took some more time. The ConHon itself is absolutely beautiful and there are such lovely drawings in itand now I am a part of it.

The character is from a series of figures on "The Seven Deadly Sins". If you haven't seen them yet, have a look! They are gorgeous. Unfortunately, also very expensive *hach*

More ConHon entries and ... stuff

Good evening to all of you! I have been quite busy lately to finish some of the ConHon entries that I took home with me from the Leipzig Book Fair. I really like to have more time at home and think I will do that more often after cons. It's so much more relaxing. Here you see some of the results and I am quite satiesfied with them. Still, these are not all and I still have more to finish...

However, tonight I needed a break and so I am continuing with a fanart I recently started to a series I am currently watching. I seldom have time to watch Anime, because I work a lot, but sometimes, early in the morning or late in the evening, I watch one or two episodes (okay, sometimes it's three or four). Do you know to which series this character belongs to?

It's done - The Leipzig Book Fair 2014

It's all over - last weekend I went to the first Manga Comic Convention, the new Con of the Leipzig Book Fair. It was incredible! The organisation was just amazing and I met so many nice and wonderful people. I am really happy that so many came to visit me and were so nice as to tell me who they were - I am really bad with remembering faces, I sometimes have trouble recognizing myself in the mirror oO

Many of the things I had are completely sold out, but for those of you who couldn't make it to the LBM I will start my Dawanda shop and probably also an Etsy shop during the next weeks. But before that here are some impressions from the wonderful convention.

This was my little table at the LBM. Thanks to the new organisation we finally had enough space and I could easily do my ConHon-entries.

One of the many ConHon entries I did. Cute girls were most people's favourites.

But I could also do some gender bender entries :)

And this is my lovely Output! Some things I got as presents and some I bought!

Thanks again to everybody for such an amazing convention! I had great fun!!! And I'll keep you posted on all the ConHon entries that I still need to do for I took some work home with me.

Final preparations

Good morning dearies,

it's good that I took a day off in advance of the LBM because there are still some things to do. Here I present you the last pictures before I'm finally on my way to the LBM.

I am really looking forward to it because I am in the mood for cool cosplay, meeting other mangaka and my friends and to experience a great convention. Please visit me at the LBM. I am looking forward to meeting you all!!!

The photographs are showing you some more original ACEOs in one of my favourite styles: scissor cut. All of these can be purchased as originals and most of them also as editions. My cute little Sailors are again helping me :)
